DP note: Dukes of Hazzard was part of my 1980s childhood, and a couple years ago I had a dream about a TV show called Finwions of Hazzard where the brothers were driving around recklessly and being a thorn in the side of Sheriff Manwë and Fëanor actually yelled YEE HAW out the car window. When I told SV about this she lol'd, and eventually, many months later, I found this in my inbox.

(That's still not the strangest Silmarillion crossover dream I've had.)

PS: they have the Star of Fëanor on the roof of the car (which is named the General Fin). Fuck the Confederate flag. 🖕🖕🖕

Oh MAN can you imagine if the Dukes of Hazzard had taken the damn Confederate flag off their car? Even the US flag would have been better than that. There would be no cancellation, I'm sure a TV show about sticking it to the police would be pretty popular right about now. But they had to hang onto that goddamn flag. For what.

Also this is probably the only time I've found rednecks attractive 😂

My dad is from the South, and he flew the stars and bars in his basement mancave, and I had no idea until I was older and learned about history, how problematic that flag is. When I found out, I was horrified that it was just... normalized like that. (I'm pretty vocal about my distaste for the Confederate flag and how monuments to Confederate soldiers should be replaced with more worthy people, like there was this one petition I signed to replace the Robert E. Lee statue with a monument to GWAR frontman Oderus Ungerus.)

And, apart from the treason weasel flag on the car, it was a pretty fun show. A reboot with an updated car would have been nice, but that didn't happen.

I like mine better, anyway. SV and I joke about "the Hazzardverse" (I will very likely never write this, but you never know) with Fëanor having cars up on cinder blocks and shit.
